Monday 4th June: Tom Winpenny

Tom Winpenny is Assistant Master of the Music at St Albans Cathedral where his duties include accompanying the daily choral services and directing the acclaimed Abbey Girls Choir. Previously, he was Sub-Organist at St Paul's Cathedral, and during this time he performed with the Cathedral Choir at the American Guild of Organists National Convention, performed in Mahler's Symphony no. 8 with Valery Gergiev and the LSO, and played for many great state occasions. He has also broadcast regularly on BBC Radio and been featured on American Public Media's Pipedreams. Since January 2016 he has been Musical Director of the London Pro Arte Choir.


Monday 9th July: Sam Hanson

Sam Hanson was born in Poole in 1985. He took up the organ in 1995, studying initially with Sean Tucker at Wimborne Minster. From April 2000 he studied with Alan Harwood, and in January 2003 achieved the Associateship of the Royal College of Organists (ARCO) with the highest marks in the organ playing section for candidates less than 19 years of age. He has also studied with Sarah Baldock and Thomas Trotter.

Sam has held organ scholar posts at St. Peter’s Church, Bournemouth (2001-2004, generously supported by the Michael James Music Trust), Salisbury Cathedral (2004-2005) and Jesus College, Cambridge (2005-2008). He returned to St. Peter’s Church as Assistant Organist in January 2009 and was appointed Director of Music in September 2011. He teaches piano and jazz piano at Bryanston and Talbot Heath Schools.
